What is a Virtual Assistant and Why You Need One

A virtual assistant (typically abbreviated to VA) is self-employed individual that provides professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) assistance to clients remotely from a home office.
Virtual Assistants provide services like email management, customer support/help desk, social media set-up and management, web design and management, transcription, graphic work, calendar management, research, data entry and more.  The best thing about a VA is that they are independent contractors so you don’t have to pay for office space, employee taxes and all those other things that come with having an assistant in your brick and mortar office.
You save money as you don’t need to cover the expenses for:  hardware (Va’s have their own computers, printers and other office equipment), health insurance, vacation time, sick time and wasted time in the office when they have no tasks to do.  There are some really big benefits to outsourcing to a virtual worker.  You may be wondering what kind of tasks can you entrust to a person that is not in your office sitting near you?

What a VA can do for you and your business

There are many things a VA can do for you.  Something you need to focus on is that with the help of a VA, you can stop spending so much of your time on projects that are time consuming and eat up your precious energy.  You can then truly focus on things that you enjoy and that grow and benefit your business.  You may find that once you hand over these tedious tasks that you don’t like doing and found so time consuming, your VA will complete them much quicker as their skill-sets are much different than yours.

Things a VA can do for you:

Email management
Document creation and organization
Report creation
Calendar management
Content management
Social media set up and management
Website design and management
Maintain database of clients/contacts
Send billings/invoices
Email Marketing – via software
Webinar meetings
Video creation and training
Project Management
Internet research
Travel Planning
Blog Preparation
Proofreading / Transcription / Editing
Much more

After reading this you should be able to see how much a VA can help you and your business.  Think about the top three things that need to be done daily and you don’t like doing them and these can be given to a VA.  Once you do that you can start thinking about the things you never seem to have time to do, these can be given to a VA as well.
