Mindfulness Techniques to Improve Workplace and Personal Wellbeing

Stress at work can be damaging both to individual health and company efficiency as well as causing business relationships to suffer.

Mindfulness meditation is increasingly becoming a popular and highly beneficial way to reduce stress and improve focus.

What is Mindfulness you are probably thinking?

Mindfulness is an integrative, mind-body based training that helps people to change the way they think and feel about their experiences, especially stressful experiences.

As a business owner of a Virtual Assistant/Website Design/Social Media business, multi-tasking  of things on a daily basis is surely stressful.  Coupled with interacting with many different personalities on a daily basis can lead to stressful experiences.  After doing some research on how to cope with this I learned about Mindfulness and how this can help me and everyone that may run into these issues from time to time.

Mindfulness exercises are ways of paying attention to the present moment, using techniques like meditation, breathing, and yoga. Training helps people to become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and body sensations so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, they’re better able to manage them. Being aware of this and practicing mindfulness can give more insight into emotions, boost attention and concentration, and improve relationships.
Practicing mindfulness regularly can help reduce stress and improve mood; it can also help people to become more emotionally alert, to listen more attentively, communicate more clearly, and can increase self-awareness and the awareness of others.

Mindfulness:

Lowers Stress and Decreases Anxiety
Helps Combat Depression
Improves Focus
Increases Productivity
Lowers Blood Pressure and Boosts Immunity
and much more .....

If your mind feels scattered, overloaded and about to burst, STOP. Take a moment. One minute of mindfulness could save your sanity, and begin to change your life from here on in…

Just 1-Minute of Mindfulness Each Day -
 (Exerpt from http://www.pocketmindfulness.com/just-1-minute-could-save-your-sanity/ )

A mindfulness exercise can start with simply sitting down, relaxing and breathing deeply. This simple action helps center the mind and bring our thoughts into the present moment.

Close your eyes and focus on your breath rising up and down. After a few minutes, move your attention to your body, one part at a time, noting any sensations like warmth or stiffness.

Just notice each aspect of the body.

After a few minutes, begin listening to sounds in the room. Don’t try to work out what these sound are, just notice and listen.

When it feels right, open your eyes and look around as if you are seeing for the first time. Rest your eyes on the first object you see for half a minute, examining it without preconception. By this we mean seeing it for what it really is rather than what you know it to be.

Now move to another object, and so forth, while still maintaining an awareness of your body, your breathing and any sounds that come your way. Stay in this state for as long as you feel un-distracted or agitated.

Becoming fully aware of your body, breath and immediate environment in this way brings you into the present moment, helping you see the true nature of things more clearly.

The more you practice such simple mindfulness exercises, the calmer your disposition will become in everyday life. You will experience less distraction, less stress, less frustration and less anxiety.

Namaste...
